PROGRAM GOALS

 

Goal:       At least one club in each district host a community Domestic Violence or Bullying and/or Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Seminar

Goal:       Every club present an informational club program on Violence Awareness and Prevention

Goal:       Every club participate in a project benefiting a local domestic violence shelter OR promote/start a Bullying &/or Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program in their local school district

DID YOU KNOW?

  • Every seven minutes a kid is bullied & 65% of teens report that they have been verbally or physically harassed or assaulted during the past year because of their perceived or actual appearance, gender, sexual orientation, gender expression, race/ethnicity, disability or religion.
  • 40% of girls age 14 to 17 report knowing someone their age who has been hit or beaten by a boyfriend

·         Younger girls (ages 11-15) report the most severe violence

Projects Ideas:     Contact local school officials and discuss the issues of bullying and teen dating violence and programs currently available

Contact and offer to partner with your local YWCA and the school to support or develop a Bullying and/or Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program in your local school district

Host a community bullying and/or teen dating violence awareness and prevention seminar
