Emphasis and Scorecard Information

 

 

GFWC JUNIOR SPECIAL PROJECT” – “ADVOCATES FOR CHILDREN’

Encourages members to become active advocates for children by working to protect children from harmful situations, encourage healthy lifestyles, and prevent substance abuse and youth suicide.  Work with and support local facilities that supervise safe visits or exchanges between children and parents.

 

OFWC JUNIOR EMPHASIS – LEADERSHIP

Build a foundation for learning and sharing leadership skills for GFWC members and future youth leaders.  Support and encourage programs, communication, attendance, and mentoring within clubs.  Utilize officer/chairmen communication and reporting for future development.  Appoint club leadership chairmen, support club members with stipends when holding state positions, sponsor new members’ registration cost to district and state meetings, and promote Leadership awards and Clubwoman Essay.

 

ARTS – Engage club members in developing and enjoying creative arts as a method of self-expression by having club contests before the state entries deadlines, and to create or contribute to art education and activities in the communities. Collect and donate watches to the American Mural Project.

 

CONSERVATION - Members are encouraged to appreciate the world around them and work to preserve and maintain the environment they inhabit.   With our shared knowledge, continued dedication to this program, and the new partnership emphasis, members will continue to be a viable resource in conservation for enhancing the environment for healthier living and preserving our resources worldwide.  One project can be the “Great American Clean-up” in April.

 

EDUCATION – Members intend to improve literacy and education awareness in communities at home and around the world while promoting opportunities independent learning.  Promote women authors, ESO, Friends of the Library, Books for Babies, and the distribution of books to libraries, schools and shelters. 

 

HOME LIFE - Strengthens families and communities by creating a better quality of life for all citizens. Provides resources to identify and address needs, particularly those related to wellness of women, children, the disabled and the elderly; hunger; housing and homelessness; personal finances; and identity theft.  Make March an education blitz while collecting dimes for a donation.

 

INTERNATIONAL OUTREACH - Enable members to become better world citizens through advocacy, education, and action, which will in turn affect change in and for our global friends and their communities.  Through UNICEF Inspired Gifts mosquito nets are available to help reduce deaths and illness from malaria and Operation Smile has many projects available.

 

PUBLIC ISSUES – Support rehabilitation, education, and transition for our veterans’ and their families to civilian life, advocate legislation and policies supported by GFWC, instill patriotism and pride of our heritage, promote community leadership roles for members, prepare for the safety and well-being of our neighbors, and encourage citizenship by action at home and in communities. Support Boatsie’s Boxes with donations from school children after providing a school program.

 

FEDERATE A JUNIOR, JUNIORETTE, or COLLEGIATE CLUB

Start up a new Junior, Juniorette or Collegiate club.    Support the sisterhood, learn leadership, have fun, invest your time wisely and help your community.  For assistance contact Rita Hall, State Juniorette Chairman or the State Membership Chairmen.

 

OFWC FEDERATION MEETINGS – Encourage members to attend the district and state meeting and provide monetary assistance.  Hold Orientation for new members and explain the history and benefits of Federation.  Use GFWC assistance to correctly run club meetings and provide members with parliamentary procedures and protocol.  Enjoy the benefits, fun, and fellowship of Federation by inviting new members to come along.  Recognize club members serving at all levels and serve as hostesses for state and district meetings.  Wear OFWC administration pins to all meetings.  Wear GFWC logo apparel when doing projects in community.

 

JUNIOR FUNDRAISING – Promote the purchase of Junior Board Fundraising items at meetings and events.  Administration Pins, Name Badge Holders, Binders, Installation Booklets and GFWC Logo items.

 

JUNIOR VOLUNTARY FUND – This important fund helps to support the office of the OFWC Director of Junior Clubs and the Junior Board.  The suggested amount of $1.00, $2.00, or $3.00 or more a member is recommended.  Please make checks payable to GFWC/Ohio Federation of Women’s Clubs and in the MEMO line note for JUNIOR VOLUNTARY FUND.  Use Treasurer’s Sheet found in FORMS section of Directory and mail contributions to the GFWC Ohio Treasurer: Sharon Pervo.
