GFWC/Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs
Message from the Director of Junior Clubs
Julie Vugrinovich

OFWC Junior Logo As my Federation journey begins in this wonderful new leadership position, I’m excited and honored to have this privilege to serve GFWC and The Ohio Federation of Women’s Clubs as the Director of Juniors for the 2008-2010 Administration. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I look forward to representing Ohio Junior Clubwomen at every meeting, project, event, and wonderful destination I travel to. I also look forward to representing Ohio Juniors on the GFWC Junior Board of Directors.

Ohio Clubwomen, Get Ready to Shake, Rattle, and Roll! Yes, just like the 1950’s – A decade of Fun, Excitement, Individuality, and of course, Elvis. The Junior Theme derives from the 1954 break out hit and reflects all the Federation Movers and Shakers in Ohio. Shake, Rattle, and Roll – Service in All Directions will serve as the Junior Theme because Ohio clubwomen are truly amazing with all they do in their clubs and communities. Plus, individual club members work in so many directions and hands on with numerous service programs and projects. Ohio clubwomen are constantly “transforming their communities” and have so much to be proud of. The wheel continues to turn with Service in All Directions.

The Junior Pin reflects a vibrantly colored jukebox full of musical notes with the State of Ohio proudly displayed in the center. This jukebox will be used to energize our members with many songs and musical notes to showcase the many wonderful accomplishments Ohio Juniors will make over the next two years as we work together in unity and harmony. This jukebox will also represent the many generations and eras of talented clubwomen that have served before us and the awesome strides they have made.

I am very proud to announce the OFWC Junior Special Project will emphasize and focus on Adoption and Foster Care – Creating Families. This is something very near and dear to my heart. For years, I have served as a Trustee and Board Member for Northeast Ohio Adoption Services, which is a non-profit agency that spans throughout the State. I have proudly and passionately served as an advocate for children living in foster care and awaiting adoption. The Jukebox Hero Award will be presented each year at our Annual OFWC Convention in April to the General or Junior club doing the most overall in their community for supporting Adoption and Foster Care. Current statistics show there are over 6,000 children awaiting adoption in Ohio. The average age is a 13 year old teenage boy. Please get your individual clubs and members involved with all the wonderful and touching programs and projects including Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, Suitcases for Kids, and the Angel Tree Gift Program. Please see a complete list in this Directory for the OFWC Junior Special Project. Thank you for making a difference and for helping every child to have a permanent home and a loving family!

In Federation Fun and Friendship,
