GFWC/Ohio
Federation of Women's Clubs
Community
Improvement Contest
Chairman: Marianne Nave
The community
improvement contest action plan is to encourage and reward clubs for initiating
and completing a successful community project that meets and surpasses the
needs of their citizens.
1. First and foremost, get your motors running,
ladies! You have two years to complete
this task.
2. Ask me for help!
3. Pick something you want to do.
4. Pick a task that you earnestly believe
you can complete.
5. The time frame for you to complete the
project is March 1st, 2010 to April 30th, 2012. Club entries must be postmarked by March 1st,
2012.
6. The project book weight must not exceed 7
pounds.
Point
distribution is as follows:
Project selection – 25 points
Project development – 50 points
Project evaluation – 25 points
Content is
valued over appearance, and your club may receive fabulous monetary prizes,
national and state awards for the work you do.
Talk to your club, family, friends, civic leaders, state legislators and
see what they would like you to help them accomplish. Be sure to work in concert with other
federated clubs and civic minded organizations.
Think about short term goals (How do you begin?) and long term effects (the finished product) of the project. Ask me for help. Be sure to look in your GFWC Club Manual for further guidelines, resources, and ideas.
No project is too big or too small. Together, we can improve our communities.
