Annette
Phelps Lincoln Scholarship
The Annette Phelps Lincoln Scholarship (APL) was created at the Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs convention in Oberlin in 1910. It is named in honor of the first president of the Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs, Annette Phelps Lincoln.
The Scholarship is available to graduating high school
students in the upper one-third of their graduating class. It is
limited to the teaching and library professions in an accredited
The APL Scholarship is administered by a Board of Trustees consisting of six (6) members - five (5) appointed by the GFWC/Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs Board of Directors. The President of the GFWC/Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs shall serve as the sixth member during her administration. The appointed Trustees shall serve terms of five (5) years each, one appointment expiring annually.
Required Material for Application
From the Sponsoring Club:
i) A letter from a club officer or club scholarship chairman giving the applicant's background stating specific proof of need (such as unusual financial obligations, chronic illness, or disabilities within the family), work experience of applicant, etc. The application is disqualified if the sponsoring club does not complete the club section.
From the High School:
ii) A LEGIBLE transcript of the applicant's grades, including senior grades, aptitude and achievement scores, class rank, grade point average, class size.
iii) A letter of recommendation from the high school principal or representative.
From the Applicant:
iv) A letter of recommendation from an adult spiritual or community leader known personally by the applicant.

Follow These Directions
· Assemble the above five (5) pieces of REQUIRED MATERIALS. These five (5) constitute a complete file. Any omission(s) automatically disqualifies the applicant.
· Mail the complete file in one (1) envelope to the Chairman of the APL Board of Trustees on or before March 1. Any application postmarked later than March 1 is disqualified.

Notification of Winning Grant
Immediately
following the OFWC Annual Convention, the Board of Trustees will notify those
students receiving grants, their sponsoring club presidents, and the designated
special correspondent. Checks will be
mailed by the OFWC Treasurer no later than August 1 to those receiving grants. Check are made payable to the school of
enrollment.
